ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This was a speculative single family residence, built in the growing neighborhood just north of popular Henderson Avenue. The design objective was to visually distinguish from other new homes in the area, both from street perspective and interior look and feel. Instead of a street-facing garage we chose to create a "motor court", which presented the street with a more interesting facade. The home was built with a flexible en-suite room on the first floor, suitable for a guest bedroom, office, or gym. The floor plan was designed to be open and airy, with visual connection to the outdoors via big windows and rear and side sliding glass doors. People asked "why the orange door?", and I just replied "because it looks really cool!".
